NVIDIA introduced DSX POD, a modular reference design for Vera Rubin AI factories, at GTC Berlin on Oct. 21. Partners are expected to integrate and validate compute, networking, rack cabling, power wiring, piping and liquid cooling in factory-built containers before delivery to a customer site. [1] [3]
CNBC reports that the announced format contains seven Vera Rubin racks in a container weighing about 28,000 kilograms and designed for transport by truck on normal roads. That makes DSX POD a standardized delivery unit, not simply a shipment of separate racks. [2]
Two weeks depends on site readiness
NVIDIA says factory integration could reduce deployment at a prepared site from about six months to as little as 14 days. That is a company-reported target, not an independently measured result. It describes the period to install and bring the system into production after the site is ready; it does not mean a new data-center site can be built in two weeks. [1] [2]
NVIDIA’s product documentation says operators still need prepared power, water, cooling and network connections. It positions POD for large-scale, greenfield, liquid-cooled infrastructure, while conventional and other modular approaches remain options for different requirements. The design moves integration upstream but does not remove utility, construction or permitting dependencies. [3]
A broader AI-factory offer
The reference design signals NVIDIA’s effort to package more of the infrastructure surrounding its accelerator systems. The company describes the aim as reducing “time to first token,” but faster revenue generation is an expected benefit rather than a demonstrated outcome. [1]
NVIDIA says partners including Dell Technologies, Foxconn, HPE, Lenovo, Quanta Cloud Technology, Schneider Electric and Vertiv are working toward worldwide delivery in early 2027. That is planned availability, not confirmation that shipments have begun. For buyers, the practical question is whether power capacity, water, transport and site preparation can keep pace with the factory schedule. [1] [4]
